About the association
Raising the standard for service of process.
American Process Servers exists to strengthen the profession that makes due process possible — through professional standards, shared resources, and a national community of servers.
Every lawsuit begins with notice. Process servers are the professionals who deliver that notice — reliably, lawfully, and provably — so that the courts can do their work and no one is bound by a judgment they never knew was coming.
Our mission
To advance the process-serving profession and the people who practice it: to set a clear standard of conduct, to make it easier for the public to find qualified servers, to connect servers with work and with one another, and to keep the membership informed as the law of service evolves.
Who we serve
- Independent process servers building a professional practice.
- Serving agencies that dispatch and manage servers at scale.
- Affiliates and vendors — investigators, courier and skip-trace services, software and insurance providers — who support the field.
- The legal community and the public, who rely on the directory to find a server they can trust.
Code of professional conduct
Membership carries a commitment. Members agree to:
- Serve process honestly and in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction.
- Document service accurately and complete affidavits truthfully.
- Treat parties, counsel, and the public with professionalism and respect.
- Protect confidential information and handle documents with care.
- Uphold the integrity of the judicial process in every assignment.
How the association is organized
American Process Servers is a membership organization governed for the benefit of its members. Members elect leadership, shape the standards, and direct the programs — the directory, the job board, benefits, and education — that make up the association's work.
